The Difference Between Full-Spectrum, Broad-Spectrum and Isolate Hemp Extracts

What’s the difference between full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate when it comes to hemp extract and CBD?

If you think of hemp extract as an orange, and CBD as the Vitamin C in the orange:

Full-spectrum is like an orange.

You get Vitamin C as well as additional vitamins & minerals in the orange, and enjoy the benefit of “whole food” nutrition.

In the hemp world, we call this the “entourage effect” where the whole is worth more than the sum of its parts.

Broad Spectrum is like pulp-free orange juice.

The orange has been disassembled and reassembled with some elements intentionally excluded.

In the hemp world, this usually means that the THC has been excluded, but other elements of the hemp extract are included in addition to the CBD, such as other cannabinoids and terpenes.

CBD Isolate is like a Vitamin C packet.

In the hemp world, it means they’ve isolated and extracted only the CBD from the hemp plant, with all other elements excluded.

And, we offer our unique complete-spectrum extract.

This unique powerhouse extract combines “traditional” heated full-spectrum hemp extract with raw full-spectrum hemp extract. It’s like combining cooked vegetables and raw vegetables to capture a complete spectrum of wellness for maximum potency. Learn more about our complete-spectrum hemp extract here.

Which one should you choose?

If you need/want to avoid THC, then a broad-spectrum or isolate product may be best for you.

If trace amounts of THC (0.3% or less) aren’t a factor, then we recommend full-spectrum and complete-spectrum products.
