How to Recognize Signs of Excess Stress
What we hoped was going to be temporary change in plans continues to escalate, along with accompanying feelings of fear, uncertainty and loneliness.
If you’ve experienced anxiety before, you may recognize the symptoms of excessive stress. If not, it can be more overwhelming as you try to figure out “what’s wrong with me?”, especially since stress can manifest as anything from irritability to stomach aches.
Here are some signs that you’re mentally & emotionally exhausted:
• You’re irritable or moody
• You’re excessively tired
• It’s hard to get motivated to do anything
• You feel helpless/depressed/worthless
• You’re having trouble falling and/or staying asleep
• Your stomach is upset or you feel like you have butterflies
• You feel detached from reality or in a fog/haze
Identifying these symptoms and being able to put a “why” behind feeling them can be a relief in itself.
